The Margaret River Pro has been put on hold for at least another two days while World Surf League organisers wait for more favourable conditions.
On-shore winds and a more promising forecast for Friday convinced organisers to call lay days for both Wednesday and Thursday.
Competition got under way on Monday in tricky conditions, with only the first round of the women's event able to be completed.
A lay day was called for Tuesday.
When competition resumes, the first men's heat to hit the water will involve Bells Beach runner-up Callum Robson doing battle with Samuel Pupo and Imaikalani deVault.
In the women's draw, 2019 Margaret River Pro winner Lakey Peterson will take on local Mia Macarthy and Luana Silva in the elimination second round, with only the top two surfers to progress.
Defending champion Tatiana Weston-Webb is also in the elimination round, with the Brazilian to take on Gabriela Bryan and Bettylou Sakura Johnson.
The Margaret River Pro has taken on extra importance this year given the WSL's new mid-season cut will occur at the conclusion of the event.
Only the top 22-ranked men, plus a wildcard, will qualify for the second half of the Championship Tour season, with the rest relegated to the Challenger Series.
Only the top 10 women, plus a wildcard, will progress to the sixth leg of the tour in Indonesia and beyond.
