Trump Legal Team To Try Canceling Upcoming Sentencing In NY

Prosecutors and Trump Organization lawyers gather at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse for the sentencing hearing in New York City

The legal team representing former President Donald Trump is making efforts to prevent his upcoming sentencing in New York related to his conviction earlier this year in the hush money case. Previously, the focus of Trump's attorneys had been on delaying the proceedings in the case. They argue that he should be shielded from any legal actions initiated by state prosecutors.

The anticipated filing is expected to be submitted within the next few days, before Judge Juan Merchan's self-imposed deadline of November 12. Judge Merchan is set to decide whether to nullify Trump's conviction following the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity.
