President Donald Trump has floated renaming New Mexico 'New America' after posting a map on Sunday that crossed out 'Mexico' and replaced it with 'America.'

The White House account on X reshared the image the same day. No executive order has been issued for the state. Unlike last month's federal instruction on Lake Ontario, a president has no legal path to change a state's name.
