Puxico R-VIII schools in Southeast Missouri canceled in-person classes on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and Wednesday, Oct. 21, after "a significant increase in illness among students and staff," KFVS12 reported. Both days are Alternative Methods of Instruction days, meaning students complete assigned work from home.
District leaders said the break is meant to give sick students and staff time to recover and to slow the spread of illness. Parent-teacher conferences set for Thursday, Oct. 22, will take place as planned, though the district has not separately announced when regular classes resume.
