Tottenham transfer news: Talks begin with Fiorentina over loan move for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat

Tottenham are in talks with Fiorentina over a loan move for Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his midfield options, with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli all free to leave the club before Monday's transfer deadline.

Amrabat was a regular for Fiorentina last season after signing from Hellas Verona but has fallen out of favour this term, playing just 215 minutes in Serie A.

He is considered a possible option to add depth to Conte's squad, with Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp currently the Italian's only trusted midfielders.

The 25-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands, is currently representing Morocco at the African Cup of Nations, and is due to be involved in Tuesday night’s quarter-final against Malawi.

Spurs are discussing a loan until the end of the season with La Viola, although any deal may be dependent on their success at offloading Ndombele, Lo Celso or Alli.

Conte wants to improve his squad with a new right wing-back – with confidence that a deal for Wolves' Adama Traore will be completed this week – as well as midfielder and a forward this month.

The club are pursuing Traore on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season, with Conte keen to convert the forward to a wing-back.

Spurs have long-standing interested in Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie and AC Milan enforcer Franck Kessie, although it is considered unlikely that either player will move clubs mid-season.

Ndombele has held talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a loan deal, which is set to include an option to make his stay permanent at the end of the season, but Spurs are pushing for a package which would guarantee the Frenchman, who earns £200,000-a-week, leaves permanently this month or in the summer.

Dele is also likely to leave on a loan deal, with Newcastle pursuing the 25-year-old England international, while Spurs are looking into a loan or swap for Lo Celso.
