Tottenham have announced their sixth summer signing of the transfer window as Djed Spence joins the club on a five-year deal.
Spence joins for a fee of £12.5million rising to £20million with add-ons after lengthy negotiations between Spurs and Middlesbrough. The England u21 star joins Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Clement Lenglet at N17 as Antonio Conte continues to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
An agreement was reached last weekend with the 21-year-old completing a medical on Monday before signing a long-term deal to join the Lilywhites. Conte was keen to add quality in depth to his defence ahead of a busy 2022/23 campaign with Champions League football to contend with, and now Spurs finally have their man after weeks of negotiations with the Championship outfit.
