Tottenham's Beth England welcomes former club Chelsea to Brisbane Road for Conti Cup quarter final

Beth England welcomes her former club on Wednesday evening at Brisbane road as Chelsea travel to face Tottenham in their Conti Cup quarter-finals.

England moved to Spurs in the January transfer window after seven years under Emma Hayes, who spoke fondly of her former striker ahead of Wednesday’s clash: “She will put everything into her performance for her team and I'm sure she will want to score a goal as she's always wanted to do and I expect nothing else from her.”

It is Hayes’ second away game to North London rivals after the weekend’s fixture against Liverpool was abandoned just five minutes after kick-off, meaning Chelsea were last in action on the 15th of January in a 1-1 tie with Arsenal. Sam Kerr’s header stole a point from the Gunners in the last minute of play half an hour after Kim Little gave Arsenal the lead by netting a penalty.

Hayes said: “For us, our last game, our last performance against Arsenal was one where I felt we could’ve done better so as far as I’m concerned tomorrow is making sure we get the performance right to put ourselves in the best position possible to win the game.”

Spurs' fixture against Leicester City was also called off at the weekend leaving Rehanne Skinner’s side also out of action for 10 days following their 2-1 loss at the Bescot Stadium against Aston Villa. England scored on her debut for the club but was beaten out by Kenza Dali and Rachel Daly by the break.

Chelsea have lifted the Continental cup twice, in 2020 and 2021 and were runners-up last year when Manchester City won 3-1. Tottenham are yet to reach the final stages of the competition but have had a solid start topping group E with three convincing wins from Reading, Coventry and Southampton to book their spot in the knockout stages.

The North London team have met six times before in the top tier. The Blues coming away victorious in all meets, most recently in a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge in November, Kerr, Erin Cuthbert and Guro Reiten with the goals in front of over 38,000 fans.

You can watch Tottenham vs Chelsea at Brisbane road or via the FA player on Wednesday 25th of January kicking off at 7:45 pm.
