Tottenham news: Dejan Kulusevski transfer update as Gary Neville makes Spurs claim

Here is your Tottenham morning digest on Tuesday, April 12.

Antonio Conte pushes for Dejan Kulusevski stay

The January transfer window saw Tottenham only manage to bring two players in, but both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have revitalised Spurs since their arrival. The former in particular has managed to bring balance to Antonio Conte ’s forward line, finding the score sheet in recent weeks.

With the Swedish international’s loan deal including a buy option for this summer, Calciomercato reports that Conte is pushing for the permanent move to be made as soon as possible. It is said that if the Lilywhites want to activate the clause now, it would cost €35million (£30million).

Gary Neville’s Tottenham claim

Former Manchester United defender and pundit Gary Neville has claimed that he doesn’t think that Tottenham are anything “spectacular” amid the race for top four. It comes as Conte has guided his team to fourth, three points clear of Arsenal in fifth.

Speaking on his podcast, he said: “I don’t think they’ve been spectacular in this last couple of months, but they’re almost growing out of the very recent run of Arsenal, and Arsenal starting to drop points, and what Manchester United are doing and thinking… 'hang on a minute.' When you’re starting to play well and the other teams are dropping points, you grow even more. I think that’s what’s happening with Tottenham, I don’t think there’s anything spectacular happening there.”

"Since day one under Antonio Conte we can feel the improvement, we can feel the way he wants us to play. We faced difficulties and a tough moment in February with a few defeats that hurt the confidence of the team, but with the work - and it's no secret, with the repetition of work - we are at the level we're at today," said the Frenchman.
