'Totally coincidental': Sky News host slams Labour for ducking interview

KAY Burley has hit out at Labour after the party pulled out of an interview on Sky News.

The Sky News host told viewers that a Labour minister or senior MP was set to attend this morning as part of a media round but ultimately cancelled.

The journalist was discussing the news that Keir Starmer met Taylor Swift when he attended her concert at Wembley Stadium in August (below).

It comes amid a row over freebies and questions over government intervention in talks over the security for the concerts after the popstar was given a taxpayer-funded police escort.

“Kay, I’m sure if you’re asking the questions, there will be more on this,” a guest said.

Burley then responded: “You know what, Labour’s pulled out this morning. Who would have thought that?”

Sky news presenter Gareth Barlow then added sarcastically: “Coincidental.”

Burley agreed: “Yes, totally.”

It’s not the first time Labour have pulled out of a Sky News interview since Starmer became Prime Minister.

In July, the party was called out for its “arrogance” after it refused to put a minister on Sky News following the suspension of seven MPs for voting to keep the two-child benefit cap and associated rape clause in place.

It came after Starmer saw off an SNP bid to axe the two-child cap with almost all his MPs falling in line.

Kay Burley said at the time that she had been preparing for an interview with Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.

She added that Labour should be “held to account by the people that have elected them” as she accused the party of “running for the hills”.
