Tommy Fury has opened up about his plans for marriage with girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague. The couple, who met on Love Island 2019, have been going from strength to strength since leaving the famous villa and recently welcomed a baby girl together called Bambi.
Now Tommy, 24, has revealed his plans to pop the question to 23-year-old Molly-Mae. The boxer discussed the future proposal during a discussion with the panel, which consisted of Vernon Kay, Paul Sinha and Martin Kemp, about the best time to propose in a relationship.
Tommy said: "My actual plan was to [propose] a lot sooner but obviously being a boxer, when you’re in a training camp, you’ve got to completely shut yourself off and focus on the fight."
He added: "So I can’t be going here, there and everywhere proposing. I'm going to do it soon guys, I really am but it just takes a bit of time!"
Later in the show he admitted: "I'm 100% ready for marriage but as I said, it's just finding the time!"
Fellow debut panellist Paul explained he never had plans to get married but said: "Everyone deserves their moment in the sun and their moment of happiness… you look at someone and you go, 'You're never going to be happier than you are with that one person' and you think, 'Why not make it official?'"
He went on to reveal that he proposed to his now husband Oliver with a "20 quid ring from Topshop" and said: "The one thing I knew he wouldn’t value was an expensive ring, that’s not what drives the relationship. It’s companionship and love and having fun, it's not the value of jewellery."
Martin also confessed that his wife Shirlie was the one to propose and said: "We were walking past a jewellers, she grabbed me and said, ‘This is the ring I want. Let's get it or not' and that was it."
Tommy also discussed parenthood, telling the panel he and Molly-Mae both knew they wanted to be parents. He said: "It was on Love Island. It was quite early on to be fair. Probably a week or two after that, we had a trial run [during the Love Island baby challenge]. When you know, you know. I knew there and then."
Before adding: "We're on the same page, we both wanted children quite young. We’re both really into each other and the rest is history." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
