Harry Potter star Tom Felton has landed his most explosive role yet as Guy Fawkes in new immersive attraction The Gunpowder Plot at the Tower of London.

The 34-year-old, who originally shot to fame as Draco Malfoy in the wizarding movie franchise, will portray the infamous criminal whose thwarted plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament resulted in his execution.

The 90-minute show uses both digital and real-life actors, along with a blend of special effects and VR to recreate the London of 1605.

Audience members are tasked with infiltrating the plot that is remembered annually on November 5.

Felton will lead a digital cast of over 50 including Gary Beadle, Taqi Nazeer, Michelle Asante and Ash Rizi.

The Gunpowder Plot is due to open on May 20.

It will be housed in a new purpose-built theatre space in the vaults of the Tower of London.

The vaults have been opened up especially having been previously closed to the public for decades.

Speaking about the role, Felton said: “I’m very excited to be playing a character so famous (and infamous!) for being at the centre of the most famous conspiracy plot in UK history.

“Guy Fawkes is a fascinating character with a complex history and with passionate advocates and detractors then and now.

“To be able to bring the character to life through Virtual Reality, and to allow him to interact with audiences in a way that has never been done before, is thrilling.”

Tickets for The Gunpowder Plot are on general sale now at gunpowderimmersive.com with prices ranging from £40-70. Children (under 16) save £10 per ticket, with VIP options also available.
