The countdown has begun to one of Bristol's biggest live music events - Tokyo World is returning to Eastville Park this weekend with some of the biggest names in drum and bass, house, dance and techno.
Tokyo World was one of the first major events on the Bristol cultural calendar to return after Covid restrictions were lifted last summer. More than 40,000 festival-goers enjoyed two days of dancing at the multi-genre event.
Dozens of artists are booked across seven stages at Eastville Park this year over Saturday and Sunday (September 17 and 18) - among the top-billed include Faithless, The Street's Mike Skinner, US rap legend Busta Rhymes. There are still some day and weekend tickets available on the festival's website.

While the weather is so far looking dry for the weekend it might be time to wrap up warm as the evening temperatures could hit as low as 12C by the time the gates close. Organisers have also advised that only card payments will be taken throughout the weekend and cash will not be accepted on site.
Here's all you need to know about this year's line-up, banned items and transport:
Line-up
The set times will be released 72 hours before the festival. Below is the line-up for both days separated into stages (billed in alphabetical order):
Saturday (September 17)
- Tokyo World Stage: Above & Beyond, Joel Corry, Mike Skinner (DJ set), MS Banks, Rejjie Snow, Russ Millions, Sigma (DJ set), Tion Wayne.
- Hedonism Stage: Apex, Honey Dijon, Jon Hopkins, Maceo Plex, Roman Flügel.
- Dopamine Stage: Claptone, Louie Vega, Natasha Kitty Katt, Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Whompy DJs.
- Utopia Stage: Daniel Avery, George Fitzgerald (DJ set), Joy Orbinson, Strawberry K, tINI.
- Labyrinth Stage: A1 X J1, Amaria BB, B Young, Children of Zeus, Darkzy, Haze De Martian, S1mba, Sainté, SL, Tom Zanetti, Wewantwraiths, Window Kid, Yung Filly.

Entry
Gates open at 11am and last entry on both days is at 5pm. Entry after 5pm will be at the gate managers' discretion in the event of extreme circumstances.
Over 18s must bring a valid ID for inspection at the gate and all those aged 17 must be accompanied by an adult - one adult can accompany up to two minors. Under 17s are not permitted at the festival.
The entry gates will be separated into two lanes:
- Green Lane: All adult ticket holders only
- Red Lane: Adult ticket holders attending with a minor ticket holder (17-years-old)
There will be no tickets available at the gates. The festival finishes at 11pm on both days.
Banned items
The festival advises that ticket holders may be searched at the entrance and any items which the organisers consider may be used in an illegal or offensive manner will be confiscated and you will be asked to leave or evicted from the site. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Alcohol
- Glass
- Paint pens
- Spray paint
- Tools, knives, weapons
- Flares and fireworks
- Lasers / laser pens
- All substances defined as a "psychoactive substance", Nitrous Oxide in any form, Alkyl Nitrates (otherwise known as Poppers)
- Illegal substances of any kind
No after parties this year
Organisers were forced to cancel this year's after parties at Motion nightclub and tickets for these two events have now been removed from their official website. People who have already purchased a ticket will be contacted by ticket sellers to refund the tickets within 21 days. Motion has arranged another club night on the Sunday, not affiliated to Tokyo World.
A statement released by Tokyo World on their website said: "Traditionally the official after parties have been held in partnership with Motion nightclub, Bristol. We have been notified by the official travel partner, First Bus group, that due to staff shortages they are unable to ferry festival goers to Motion nightclub this year."
It added that without this service it would be "mission impossible" to get back into the centre.
Transport
Bus
There are no shuttle buses this year due to First Bus driver shortages, so festival goers will have to make their own way to and from the site over the weekend. The bus routes that pass near Eastville Park include 24, 48, 48A, 49, Y4.
Train
The closest train station to the festival site is Stapleton Road, which can be accessed by Bristol Temple Meads. It is then a 15-minute walk to Eastville Park from the station or the 48, 48A or 49 bus services can take you the rest of the way.
Taxi
The festival has not announced an official drop-off point for taxis taking ticket holders to the festival. Festival goers should be aware that there may be a longer wait time for taxi services due to higher demand over the weekend.
