In 1999, at Mankato West High School in Minnesota, Tim Walz and his wife, Gwen, were teachers who created a safe space for LGBTQ+ students. This support was pivotal for students like Jacob Reitan, who found solace in Gwen Walz's classroom, where discussions on gay issues were openly welcomed.
