Tilak Varma becomes 2nd fastest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Ruturaj Gaikwad to this IPL record

NEW DELHI: Young Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma on Monday etched his name in the annals of IPL history, emerging as the second-fastest Indian batsman to achieve a remarkable milestone, following in the footsteps of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Varma reached the 1000-run landmark in 33 innings, just two short of Tendulkar and Gaikwad (31 innings), who equalled Sachin's record to become joint-fastest in 2022, followed by Suresh Raina (34 innings), Rishabh Pant (35 innings) and Devdutt Padikkal (35 innings) on the list.
