A mum gave herself quite the fright after picking up a spider she thought was just another one of her son's toys. Taking to TikTok to share her 'horrifying' ordeal, the mum - who goes by the username Courttshortt31 - revealed making a sound she's "never made before ever" after accidentally picking up the arachnid.
Explaining how she was having a "cleaning day", the mum held up a green toy spider asked fellow mums if any of their children own one like it themselves. "Do any of your kids have toys like this?" Nodding her head, she then added: "You get used to it over the years.
"So used to it that I was cleaning my son's room and picked up a little friend here." She then switches the camera around to show a spider perched underneath a plastic tub on the floor. She slowly lifts the tub up to give viewers a full glimpse of the furry eight-legged creature she handled by mistake.
After gently putting the tub back over it, with a plastic lid on top for extra protection, she says: "Yes, I picked him up. Picked him up, to throw him in a toy basket. Tell you what, I've never made a noise like that in my life.
"Never have I made a sound like that, ever." In the caption of the 30 second-long clip, the TikToker assured viewers: "No spiders (plastic or real) were harmed while making this video."
Since sharing her 'nightmare' tale, the TikTok video has been viewed more than 600,000 times, with plenty of people commenting their reaction. Mayra jokingly replied: "Mental note…. No spider or tarantula toys when my son gets older."
Kay admitted: "I would have had an aneurysm." SenderElla said: "I’m not afraid of spiders but ABSOLUTELY not." Elisabeth Louise typed: "The scream I woulda screamed !!!!"
Jules added: "I would’ve immediately died." Ingrid Perez6825 exclaimed: "I’m frantically scared of spiders, I would have died right there! Burn the house and move out, but that’s me."
Messykindofbeautiful shared her own experience: "Yep picked up what I thought was a toy it pinched me I screamed and my son goes 'oh there's my crayfish'." Another user asked: "We need an update! What did your son say? Did he know it was in his room?"
