Australian light-heavyweight Paul Trainor has scraped through to the Commonwealth Games quarter-finals after a tight bout with Namibian Gebhard Ipinge.

Trainor won in a 3-2 split decision early on Tuesday morning (AEST) and four of the five judges had only one point separating the two boxers.
