Get ready to hear us recite this Queen Charlotte quote daily, along with the rest of the internet, until Bridgerton season 3 premieres...
So far, the dreamy Ton of Bridgerton has afforded us with a load of phrases to obsess over, from the O.G. "I burn for you" to season two's whole "bane of my existence" speech. But right now, a certain one-liner, coolly delivered by Queen Charlotte (a.k.a. Golda Rosheuvel) herself is going viral.
While the romance in Queen Charlotte: A Brigerton story was just as moving and simultaneously blush-inducing as the rest, it seems Queen Lottie's comforting skills are taking the win for the best quote this season, instead of any romantic-fueled moment. Here's the exact line sending viewers and the many memes it has subsequently inspired...
The iconic Queen Charlotte quote currently going viral
If you've watched the spin-off series—starring the likes of Arsema Thomas, Corey Mylchreest and India Amarteifio—you've likely already guessed the sentence now trending all over Twitter and TikTok. If you've not yet had the fortune of tuning in, we have three words for you; sorrows, sorrows and prayers.
The line was iconically delivered first at the funeral of Princess Charlotte (the wife of Queen Charlotte's eldest son), who died during childbirth, and is uttered again after Charlotte instructed all 13 of her children to marry and make new heirs to the throne. At any mention of his late wife and son, George understandably broke down into tears, prompting Charlotte to repeat, by means of comfort: "Sorrows, sorrows and prayers."
Alas, though, the words swiftly became less comforting (but all the more iconic) as the scene progressed, as with every reference to his wife and son, George would sob and Charlotte would snap "sorrows and prayers," thus igniting a whole new Bridgerton meme.
Viewers have now adopted this new saying as their go-to way of comforting people—especially for those moments when you're not feeling very sympathetically inclined...
