This Morning's Josie Gibson swipes at Vernon Kay for 'throwing her under bus' over crush

This Morning’s Josie Gibson took a swipe at co-host Vernon Kay for “throwing her under the bus” after he poked fun at her crush on one of their guests.

The pair, who are standing in for regular co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during the Easter break, fronted Thursday’s instalment of the popular ITV daytime show.

Josie and Vernon were in the kitchen with GP Rupy Aujla earlier in the programme as he whipped up a pad Thai for the hosts, which Josie raved over saying it was her favourite dish.

As Dr Rupy plated up the meal, he said: “This is a great date night meal, I think,” after which Vernon turned to Josie and apparently tried to ward her off any ideas, saying: “He just got engaged, Josie.”

Josie laughed along as she said: “No, I’d like to say I have many dates, but if I did have a date I would pop this one out.”

After returning from an ad break later in the programme, the 37-year-old Bristolian turned to her 47-year-old co-host and praised him for “appreciating” Eddie Marsan, who the show had lined up an interview with for Friday.

Vernon thanked Josie and said he knows she also appreciated a “fine man”, adding: “Your disappointment when you found out that chef had just got engaged.”

The hosting pair have had a giggle-filled week at each other’s side in Holly and and Phil’s absence, with Vernon yesterday admitting he was left “tipsy” after a boozy segment on This Morning, ahead of another drinks-filled section of the ITV daytime show.

The T4 presenter said he had been left “tipsy” at the end of Tuesday’s show after the pair were tasked with trying a range of hot cross bun flavoured drinks in the lead-up to Easter.

Josie and Vernon faced another boozy segment, with an Easter cocktail hour on Wednesday's show, as they were shown a dazzling line-up of chocolatey cocktails.

As Vernon ran down the schedule for Wednesday, they got a glimpse of the mini-egg martinis, chocolate orange and rum cocktails as well as chocolate stout.

Josie laughed as she said: “Wow that looks good."

Vernon then said: "I thought I was tipsy after yesterday's show with the hot cross bun beer, but just you wait until later."

He then turned to the camera to say: "Tess, I’m getting in and going straight to bed.”
