This Morning's Holly and Phillip jump out of their seats in live Zoom blunder

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield nearly jumped out of their seats after a live Zoom blunder today.

During a news discussion about Ukraine at the top of the ITV mid-morning show today, the pair crossed over to broadcaster and presenter Tom Swarbrick as he spoke about the events in the European country and Putin's plans.

"I just think it feels pretty terrifying that the thing we're relying on, to bring this to a quick close, to stop this from happening, to stop children from being bombed and killed in Ukraine, are the grown ups in the room around Putin saying, hmm not sure this is a good idea chaps. That's not without risk either," he said.

Phil and Holly were speaking with their guests about the latest news from Ukraine (ITV)

"These are all former KGB people, they're all completely paranoid at the best of times. And whispers in the Kremlin about maybe we need to get rid of the guy that's been sitting at the top table for 25 years, that's not an easy thing to do."

Admitting it wasn't something that was necessarily in the pipeline, he added: "That's not a short term fix. We can hope it will happen but it feels like it's a very far way off and something which we've got very little information."

As he continued to speak, there was a sound off-screen and Tom quickly looked to the side.

Tom appeared via Zoom whilst Camilla was in the studio (ITV)

"Sorry that was the dog," he said, as Phil and Holly almost jumped out of their seats at the sudden noise.

Putting his hand on his heart, Phil looked at the camera as Holly held her hand over her mouth in shock. "I mean we're all on hind alert," Phil said, making a pun in response to the sound of the dog barking.

Holly then added: "Oh my gosh, what's wrong with the dog?"

The pair were shocked by the sound - which Tom later revealed to be his dog (ITV)

As Tom tried to get the pet pooch under control, he assured Holly and Phil in the studio that the dog was just reacting to the postman. "I'm beginning to feel quite sorry for the postman right now," he said.

Tom added: "There's been a history, they don't like each other!"

"You sort the dog out," Phil said, as he turned the conversation to their other guest Camilla whilst Tom tended to the dog.
