Dr Sara Kayat joined This Morning to share her advice on how to stay protected from the flu over Christmas.
With the big event only a few days away the countdown is on to bypass the holidays without falling victim to the cold weather. Dr Kayat joined the This Morning couch to discuss the best remedies and action plan to do just that but emphasised we may have to make some difficult decisions.
She said: "If you've got a cough or sneeze and you've got a bit of tissue - bin it. Christmas is when everyone will be getting together and we've got to be very careful again, including maybe social distancing and avoiding the really vulnerable if you can.

"So really it's hygiene and keeping up to date with those covid measures." Josie Gibson asked Dr Kayat if she had any miracle remedies on hand as everyone she's spoken to is "suffering from lurgy."
Turning her down, Dr Kayat said: "I wish I had a magic pill but I don't. All I would say is to rehydrate yourself. Make sure you have vitamins D and C.
"Please make sure you have a healthy diet and lots of fruit and vegetables because you get all your natural vitamins and minerals there. Antibiotics don't work for a lot of things and people want them but they are completely useless so do not pressure anyone into using them because they simply don't work.
Craig Doyle asked how to protect the elderly and those most vulnerable. Dr Kayat added: "You've got to be considerate and mindful. Most of the elderly have had a flu jab but if your child or anyone is unwell be mindful.
"You shouldn't really be distancing yourself because it's Christmas and everyone wants to get together but keep those hygiene methods in place - social distancing, ventilating rooms - and you'll be fine.
