NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah had high praise for the New England Patriots’ selection of Marte Mapu. Jeremiah called Mapu his favorite player in the entire 2023 NFL draft.
The Sacramento State linebacker was taken in the third round. The Patriots took a defensive approach early in this year’s draft, as they selected a defensive player with their first three selections.
Mapu tallied 65 tackles and a fumble recovery in addition to two interceptions last season. The versatility could prove to be important in a Patriots defense that is undoubtedly the strength of the team.
Jeremiah believes it was a great pick.
Marte Mapu is my favorite player in this entire draft. The Patriots are getting an absolute playmaker.

Mapu’s upside could be a major piece for New England, as they look to load up the defense.
