This budget $59.99 Amazon dehumidifier will kick condensation in your home to the curb – and holds it own against the best one we've tested, at just a third of the cost

Modern natural bathroom with freestanding white tub, elevated hanging plants on a floor to ceiling windows and a double vanity.

A dehumidifier is one of the surest ways to tackle humidity levels at home. I know this from my extensive coverage of their benefits for Homes & Gardens as a home tech editor. Bringing a dehumidifier into your home really does work wonders for your health and wellbeing.

They're not the cheapest, and investing in a new dehumidifier can often mean shelling out hundreds of dollars. That's why I am thrilled to see a stand-out deal for a top-rated dehumidifier that promises similar features to others that are at least triple the price. The ToLife TZ-C2 Dehumidifier is on offer for just $59.99, making it one of the most affordable options out there.

Not only do dehumidifiers help with mold, they're actually one of the most effective ways of doing so, as they control the humidity levels (measured in relative humidity or RH) in your home to create a safer environment.

A budget dehumidifier that's worth the spend

For $59.99, this is a pretty impressive appliance. Dehumidifiers at this price point are typically tiny, and will struggle to reach the corners of a small room. But this has many of the same features from the best dehumidifier we've ever tested, the Frigidaire Gallery 50 Pint Dehumidifier with WiFi – retailing for a whopping $329.99 at Amazon.

If your home is susceptible to damp, high moisture levels, condensation or mold, then a dehumidifier is what you need. Mold and mildew thrive in moist, damp conditions. The same goes for dust mites, the microscopic bugs that trigger dust allergies. It's generally a sign of poor air quality when the humidity levels are too high, so it's important to reduce them where possible.

This is exactly what a dehumidifier does. By pulling water vapor out of the air and condensing it into a water tank, excess moisture is removed from your indoor space. Doing this will protect your home and your property, particularly in areas that are regularly moist like bathrooms, basements and utility rooms. A dehumidifier is even important in winter, where less ventilation results in higher indoor humidity levels.

So, when choosing a dehumidifier, you'll want to look for one with a high airflow rate and large area coverage, as this will ensure it's able to pull in moisture and humid air from the whole room. It helps to look at energy efficiency too, as well as finding one that has either a large water tank, or one that's easy to empty.

The ToLife TZ-C2 Dehumidifier can pull in 1000ml of moisture a day (in a room that's 86°F at 80% relative humidity). It has a 95oz / 2.8L water tank so that you're not having to empty it too often, and it covers a generous 950 square feet, which is larger than most common rooms in the house. It can also use as little as 1.28kWh per day – not too much more than the energy of an incandescent light bulb.

It also comes in four colors (black, gray, silver and white), and it has customizable lights to add to your room's ambience. What's not to love?

FAQs

What should the humidity level of a room be?

Anything above 60% humidity is asking for trouble, and without adequate ventilation and reduction in air moisture, could leave your space open to mold and mildew. Humidity also makes it harder for our bodies to cool down or warm up so reducing humidity will help with temperature control.
