Thames Water is planning to announce a hosepipe ban “in the coming weeks” in the face of the long-term forecast of dry weather and hot temperatures this week, the company said. It will be the fourth in the UK this summer.
Three water companies – Southern Water, Welsh Water (in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire) and South East Water – have already announced hosepipe bans.
Southern Water’s restrictions for customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight started last week and South East Water’s ban for Kent and Sussex comes into force on Friday. Welsh Water is implementing a hosepipe ban from 8am on August 19. Thames Water has said it is planning to announce a hosepipe ban in the coming weeks.
