Thiago Silva was a star performer once again for Brazil as the Selecao managed to pick up a crucial three points against Switzerland and ensure their progression into the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
Silva started as the left centre-back in a defensive four for the World Cup favourites, alongside Marquinhos of Paris Saint-Germain. The 38-year-old Chelsea defender is defying physics with consistent performances on a regular basis at the elite level of football.
Gary Neville, speaking after Brazil's 1-0 win against Switzerland thanks to a late Casemiro strike, could not believe what he was seeing from Silva. We know how you feel, Gary.

"I don't know how Thiago Silva at his age is still pushing up that pitch, getting in front of his forward," Neville explained on ITV Sport. "When I think towards the end of my career, to get in front of your forward all of the time to try and win it is one of the hardest things to do and he's still doing that in his late thirties."
As mentioned above, Brazil are now into the Round of 16 of the World Cup after two wins from as many matches in Group G. A 2-0 win over Serbia last week, as well as the 1-0 victory over Switzerland on Monday evening, ensures a perfect start for the South American side.
It wasn't the most glamorous of performances from Brazil against the Swiss but it was a result that they may not have picked up in recent history. Switzerland were unable to leave their mark on the game in an attacking sense. In fact, they failed to register a shot on target.
Brazil, with the help of the imperious Silva, stood resolute defensively and it's not a one-off, either. This is the second game on the bounce that Alisson, Liverpool's goalkeeper, has not been tested in the Brazil goal.
Silva, with the help of the rest of his side's brilliant defensive line, are proving unbreakable so far in Qatar. Chelsea supporters everywhere, country biases aside, will be hoping the veteran defender can add a World Cup medal to his rather remarkable collection of major honours.
