More than a dozen GP surgeries in Merseyside received either an 'inadequate' or 'requires improvement' rating in their latest inspections.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. The CQC carries out inspections of health and care services across the country and gives them one of four overall ratings - outstanding, good, requires improvement, or inadequate.
One GP surgery in our region received the “inadequate” rating at their latest inspection, while a further 15 were deemed to require improvement, as of February 1, the most recent date available.

While the map shows Four Acre Health Centre in St Helens as being rated inadequate, a very recent inspection has seen the centre moved to 'requires improvement.'
Across England as a whole, a total of 51 GP surgeries received the 'inadequate' rating, while a further 251 were deemed to require improvement.
The CQC aren’t the only people to rate GP surgeries - patients have their say as well. Every year, the NHS carries out a survey where patients give their opinions on their GP surgery.
