The world leaders, presidents and prime ministers the Queen outlasted

When Elizabeth became Queen in 1952, Stalin was still leader of the USSR and Truman President of the US. Since then she has seen 15 British Prime Ministers come and go and had only this week welcomed her 16th - Liz Truss - to Blamoral

She has also seen 14 American Presidents take power at the White House - and met 13 of them during her tenure.

On a visit to Cardiff in 2021, she was caught expressing her irritation at world leaders having not committed ahead of a climate summit being held in Glasgow the following month.

Her Majesty normally held a weekly audience with the Prime Minister throughout her reign in order to discuss Government matters which are held in an audience room in her apartments and are always entirely private. During the pandemic, they were held via telephone. Most recently, just this week a few days before her death, she accepted the resignation of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and welcomed the new one - Liz truss.

She has always remained politically neutral on all matters but was able to 'advise and warn' politicians when necessary.
