The Toronto International Film Festival often gets second, or even third or fourth or fifth, billing. That's because it's usually held in the midst of fashion month and around the same time as the Venice International Film Festival, the Emmys and the MTV Video Music Awards. Quite a lot of competition for the Canadian gathering. That doesn't mean you should sleep on the festival. The stars always attend dressed to the nines and frequently favor rather risqué looks they wouldn't dare try pulling off on other red carpets. Which is why these 2024 Toronto International Film Festival best looks deserve prompt attention.
There are several sheer looks, but all done in a demure way, well at least by fashion standards. Daisy Edgar-Jones keeps her boho streak going in a flowing blue dress. Zoe Saldana dazzles in a lacy embellished lingerie-style gown from Armani Privé. Although no one embraces the sheer way of life more than Sasha Calle who dared to wear one of Saint Laurent's most see-through creations. Kaia Gerber also deserves a shout-out since her white hot Hervé Léger dress was a not-so-subtle nod to her famous mom.
Here are the most stylish looks from the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
Katy Perry at the Premiere of The Cut
The singer rocked Celine to the premiere. The bra top, embroidered veil and high-waisted skirt beautifully balance out the look.
Daisy Edgar-Jones at the Premiere of On Swift Horses
Daisy Edgar-Jones looked like a Greek and/or boho goddess in this blue pleated Gucci gown. Tiffany & Co. ear clips and rings polished things off.
Sasha Calle at the Premiere of On Swift Horses
We're betting you were betting that we wouldn't be seeing any of those extremely sheer Saint Laurent dresses from the Fall 2024 runway IRL. Sasha Calle bravely wore a brown draped dress to the premiere styling it with Saint Laurent ankle-strap sandals.
Sydney Sweeney at the Premiere of Eden
Sydney Sweeney took a big risk with this Erdem creation and boy did it pay off. The colorful 3-D silk flowers and embroidery really make this dress and cape pairing a real standout.
Julianne Moore at the Premiere of The Room Next Door
A gingham silk dress from Bottega Veneta's Resort 2025 collection was Julianne Moore's delightful selection up in Toronto. She rounded out the outfit with Ana Khouri earrings.
Lupita Nyong'o at the Premiere of The Wild Robot
Lupita Nyong'o stunned in this custom Del Core pale sage tulle gown amplified by De Beers gems.
