Leeds United would feel the impact of relegation both on and off the pitch if they are unable to survive on Sunday. The Whites face a huge final day of the season as they head to Brentford knowing that if they do not beat Burnley’s result against Newcastle United, then they will be relegated to the Championship.
While many may not have shown the best of their abilities this season, Leeds currently have a number of senior international players on their books. Relegation would undoubtedly leave them open to many members of the squad being picked off, which could leave Victor Orta and co with a huge job in rebuilding this summer.
Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha are near certainties to leave, while Diego Llorente, Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch all have international careers to think about, particularly with a World Cup coming up later this year. Championship football would hardly provide them with the best opportunity to stake a claim for a place at that tournament.
