Why the skin barrier keeps failing despite a full routine
The skin barrier is not a metaphor. It is a physical structure: a tightly packed layer of dead skin cells held together by lipids, ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol, that sit between your skin and everything outside it. When that layer is intact, moisture stays in and irritants stay out. When it is compromised, both of those things reverse. The problem is that the most common way Indian women compromise it is something they are actively doing in the name of better skin: scrubbing too often, too hard, or with the wrong things.
