The Dungeon Experience entirely dismantles the very concept of the 4th wall in its new RPG-lampooning trailer

Future Games Show.

A deep dive on comedy adventure game The Dungeon Experience just dropped during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase powered by HyperX,and while I can't promise exactly how much you'll learn about the feeling of playing the game by watching it, I can promise you'll get up close and very personal with a mudcrab.

The Dungeon Experience is all about flipping the traditional RPG difficulty curve on its head. Somehow, that aforementioned mudcrab - normally one of the lowest of the low when it comes to any kind of videogame creature - has become the proud owner of their very own dungeon. Except instead of offering up experience points, this dungeon is all about achieving financial freedom.

The fourth wall isn't so much broken during the new trailer as it is removed, brick-by-brick, until there's simply nothing left. Suffice to say that The Dungeon Experience isn't taking itself too seriously as it unpicks pretty much every RPG trope you can think of, whether that's mocking you for obsessively seeking out every NPC to chat with, or entirely subverting the traditional fishing minigame. There's even a retro-style segment that looks like it's supposed to be a DOOM-like, but ends with a breakdancing skeleton being cheered on by his bony pals.

I don't want to give away too much more, but if you do want to experience The Dungeon Experience for yourself, you can check out a demo available right now on Steam, ahead of a planned release date later this year.
