What the DASH Diet Actually Requires
The DASH diet, Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, was developed in the 1990s through a landmark study funded by the US National Institutes of Health and published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1997. Its core targets: sodium below 2,300 mg per day (the stricter version goes to 1,500 mg), at least 4,700 mg of potassium daily, high dietary fibre, and low saturated fat. That is the architecture. The ingredients are not prescribed.
