The breathtaking town of Freshford is one of many stunning Cotswold villages on the outskirts of Bristol that is perfect for a day out. It is surrounded by woodlands, green pastures and the River Frome - just 45 minutes from Bristol city centre.
Freshford is the kind of destination that is so scenic that even people from nearby Bath, famed for its impressive views, travel there. Visitors will be amazed at how beautiful this village is, with its stunning Bath stone cottages and villas, and gardens with climbing roses clambering over picket fences.
The postcard scenery will stop you in your tracks as you pass by rows of quaint houses, one after the other, until you eventually turn the corner into the main village, with The Inn at Freshford, an old coaching inn with a stunning garden, located on a little bridge over the river, reports MyLondon .

The pub is open all day for good classic pub dishes and fine local beers and wines. It is a favourite among locals from Bath who flock there to enjoy the beautiful view of the river bank the garden offers.
This area of the town has been picked out by filmmakers over the years who have used it as the setting for large battle scenes in historical dramas. An ITV production of Robin Hood was filmed there, as was a vintage TV series Arthur of the Britons.
Freshford is also connected to the rest of the area by a series of canal ways which give you the option to explore in either direction. Towards the east is the tiny village of Avoncliff, known for its houses that are set into the hillside almost looking like they are floating out into the sky.
A little further past the Avoncliff turnoff is an amazing aqueduct that has another pub, the Cross Guns, nestled near one of its arches. The pub has an incredible beer garden that extends right up to the nearby Avon.
Finally, at the end of the east path, you can visit Bradford Upon Avon, known for its many pubs, historic bridge and small independent shops. If you head west along the canal you will eventually end up in the city of Bath where you can do some shopping, sightseeing and visit more pubs.
Freshford offers unparalleled access to the glorious natural surroundings of the West Country, without much of the travel hassle making for a convenient and relaxing trip.
