The Boys season 5 episode 7 features a shark voiced by a Marvel legend, and it's probably the best cameo in the show's run

Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir in The Boys.

The Boys season 5 has featured a hefty amount of cameos so far, including returning characters and a whole load of Hollywood comedic talent. However, episode 7, 'The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk' features one of the biggest stars so far.

Before we reveal anymore, take this as your spoiler warning as we get into details from the latest episode below.

After he gets fired from The Seven, The Deep goes to do some soul-searching by the ocean and runs into an old friend. Xander the Hammerhead shark tells him to jump in the water and retrieve the can he just threw in, just before his tone quickly changes.

"If you step one foot, one fucking stupid-ass simian toe in the water anywhere – an ocean, a stream, a fucking puddle – oh God son, you're dead," he yells at The Deep, giving him a fate worse than death for the Supe. "We're going to kill you."

Now if those dulcet tones yelling "motherfucker" sound familiar, there's a good reason. Samuel L. Jackson cameos as the voice of the shark in one of the biggest surprises of the final season.

Fans have been absolutely loving the cameo with some pointing out how it's a full circle moment for the character too after his memorable performance in shark thriller Deep Blue Sea. The 1999 movie saw Jackson's character dealing with a killer shark on the loose and is easily one of the most quotable films of his career to date. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to see him on the other side of the water here.

It's also another tongue-in-cheek reference to the superhero genre that The Boys so often parodies given that one of Jackson's most famous roles is as Marvel character Nick Fury.

Reacting to the scene on X, one fan wrote: "Not the deep loosing The Seven and his water privileges in one day. Samuel L. Jackson voicing the hammer head shark made it so much funnier."

"The Boys getting Samuel L. Jackson to voice a Hammerhead Shark was not on my May 2026 Bingo Card but … it's here," a second added while a third wrote: "The best part of today's episode of The Boys is that the hammerhead shark is played by Samuel L. Jackson."

There's only one episode left of The Boys on Prime Video and we'll be waiting to see if any more cameos appear. In the meantime, keep up to date on the final series with our The Boys season 5 release schedule.
