The best Culture Night events taking place in every county in Ireland tonight

Culture Night 2022 will take place tonight, the seventeenth edition of Culture Night is brought to you by the Arts Council.

A national moment, celebrating culture, creativity and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives.

It is delivered nationwide in cities, towns, villages and rural locations as well as online.

Doors are opened late and special events are made available to the public free of charge thanks to Dublin City Council, and The Arts Council.

Culture Night is on September 23rd in every county in Ireland (The Arts Council)

There will be over 300 free events in Dublin this Culture Night.

We’ve rounded up the best events you can catch in every county around Ireland.

Carlow

The Carlow Storytellers

The Carlow Storytellers return for another Culture Night performance with their unique mix of recitations, storytelling, drama, poetry and, of course, lots of Ceol Agus Craic! Featuring special guests.

There a few events on in Virginia, Co. Cavan.

5pm Stilt Walking in the Town from the Church of Ireland Grounds.

6pm Syrian Dance Group & Irish Dance Group perform a formation multicultural dance in-front of the

Courthouse.

7pm “Two in the Dock”, a Play written by Eddie Brady performed in The Courthouse, Virginia.

8pm Riverfront Bar & Grill locals perform a variety of music, song and dance.

Clare

Enjoy a free night of live music with high-energy covers performed by the local band The Jager Bombers.

City Hall - Concert Hall

Cork City Council and The Good Room present Magic Nights by the Lee at Cork City Hall, a very special late-night free event bringing together some of Cork’s most legendary artists with some of the freshest sounds by contemporary musicians.

Soak up Culture Night in Conway’s Bar, Ramelton with an eclectic night of Donegal culture.

Join Fraoch from the Fanciful Foodie who will share tips on how to forage food in the Ramelton area, while dancer Megan Jennings will bring belly dancing and burlesque to the bar.

Acid Granny | Pop-Up Performance

Armed with a shopping trolley soundsystem, Acid Granny devise surreal ambulatory performances in collaboration with passers by in the urban landscape of Dublin City.

Screen Ireland Presents: 15th Anniversary Screening of ‘Once’

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland proudly presents a special 15th Anniversary screening of the Academy Award winning film Once.

Strange Brew presents a dazzling array of musicians performing at the Roisin Dubh as part of Culture Night 2022.

Kerry

Kerry International Film Festival presents a programme of short films in an outdoor film screening in the Tralee Town Square.

The event will be a celebration of Irish culture and the line-up will include films in both English and Irish along with films from Kerry filmmakers.

As part of Jazz in County Kildare, on Culture Night the Johnny Batista Trio will play at Carton House at 7pm.

Jazz in County Kildare, produced by Kasia Eliasz, is supported by Kildare County Council and funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme.

Join Culture Night at Butler Gallery for BG Block Party to celebrate Culture Night, with live Djs in the gardens, late night entry to Kevin Atherton: The Return and Showcase by our youth collective Youth, Ecology, Art.

Poetry & Music @ The Olive Tree

Come and listen and, if you are inclined, bring a poem to read!

Sligo based poet Mary Branley in collaboration with local folk band ‘GreenBird’ will be performing her poetry.

GreenBird will also perform some of their folk songs with lyrics by poets such as Christina Rossetti, Percy Bysshe Shelly and even Shakespeare

For over fifty years’ the Clara Musical Society have been bringing quality entertainment and national award winning productions to audiences in the midlands.

They are delighted to return to Culture Night with an interactive fun way to enjoy musical theatre.

One of Ireland’s leading drag artists and star of Comedy Central’s Dragony Aunts, Candy Warhol is headed to Enniscorthy.

She will be joined by very special guests Viola Gayvis, Daria Décolleté, and Lavender for a night of drag, burlesque, and comedy.

Hailing from Cork City, Candy Warhol has been one of Ireland’s most renowned drag acts for over a decade.

Wicklow

The Hot Spot Music Club, above the Beach House pub, Greystones Marina

Carnival of Culture is heading to the Hot Spot.

Performers on the night include The Zoryanna Tribal Style Dance Troupe, inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain, Indonesia and India.

Admission is free. Doors 8pm. Don’t miss this fun-filled live arts event.
