Thomas Tuchel managed Chelsea for 100 matches. It was an ironically round number to end on given the significance of the century, how hard it is to get that far at Chelsea and how brutal the decision to mention it in the farewell to him was.
By now it is no secret that the second 50 didn't quite match up to the first. Conceding more than double the amount of goals and losing nearly two times as many matches, the proof was in the pudding. Chelsea had been slipping for a while.
Another intriguing point to note, and one that is even more relevant with Graham Potter's first international break on the horizon, is that Tuchel's record after these windows was poor.

His two worst defeats both came immediately after international breaks. In the 100 games he only conceded four or more goals three times, two of those were after international duty for his players. It's a small sample size, but it's a record that demonstrates the struggles Chelsea had.
The first was a crushing 5-2 defeat to West Brom who were all but relegated by the time Chelsea played them in March 2021, just over one month after Tuchel took charge. That was embarrassing enough but Chelsea came back to win the Champions League so the result was quickly forgotten.
What wasn't fine was being hammered in a second half drubbing at home, again, by another relegation threatened side, again, almost exactly one-year later. In another eerie coincidence, Chelsea went 1-0 up against Brentford just as they had against West Brom, only this time they would ship four goals and lose 4-1. It was the same match that some Antonio Rudiger finally pay off his xG debt by thundering in a long-shot.
The only other time Tuchel conceded more than three goals was in a 4-2 loss at home - again - to Arsenal towards the end of last season.
Potter is lucky in a sense that his Chelsea side are facing Crystal Palace who are neither newly promoted, playing at Stamford Bridge or going to be in a yellow kit for the match after the international break. He has a chance, just like Tuchel, to assess his squad fully on paper, but with the warning in place he will know all too certainly how tough it will be to have them regroup for a London derby.
In total under Tuchel this Chelsea squad showed a flaw when playing after the break and won just three of their last six after the break. At Brighton Potter doesn't have much form to cling onto in this sense, he didn't win any of his last four after an international break.
