The £8 Greggs x Primark bucket hat selling for more than three times its price on Ebay

Greggs fans can't seem to get enough of the brand's Primark clothing range with keen shoppers prepared to pay as much as three times the selling price to get their hands on the goods.

The Greggs x Primark collection proved to be so popular that it sold out within just hours of it going on sale at Newcastle's Primark on Saturday, February 19.

Primark staff said the £8 reversible bucket hat featuring the Greggs logo was the most popular item, selling out within minutes as shoppers snapped up Greggs branded merchandise including sliders, hoodies and even sausage roll boxers.

Although many shoppers were simply Greggs-obsessed and wanted the novelty items to wear at festivals and stag dos, it seems others were keen to sell on the sought-after merchandise for a profit.

Ebay was flooded with Greggs x Primark items the day after the collection hit stores, with an £18 hoodie listed for as much as £140.

Meanwhile, one of the £8 Greggs branded bucket hats sparked a bidding war on the site, selling for £26 - more than three times its asking price.

Primark staff believe the "novelty effect" and the popularity of the Greggs brand in the North East has made the collaboration such a success.

"We had a queue of 30 to 40 customers at the front doors waiting to get in," a Newcastle Primark staff member said of the launch on Saturday.

"It has been so popular that a lot of the products have sold out within the first five minutes.

"Customers were asking for sizes as soon as we were opening the boxes of stock. It was crazy."

But anyone who missed out on the Greggs merchandise will get a second chance to snap it up when the Newcastle store puts out more stock on Tuesday, February 22.

The highly-anticipated Greggs trainers are said to be among the second drop, with the store set to open from 8am.
