Prince William thanked veterans for fighting for freedom as he joined world leaders at a moving ceremony to honour the heroes of D-Day.The Prince of Wales stepped in to represent Britain on the world stage in his father's place as he joined heads of state and D-Day veterans in Normandy to mark the final international event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the beach invasion.
William spoke to Joe Biden, Mr Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of an event on Omaha Beach in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer.
