A number of supermarkets have recalled products from their shelves due to health and safety concerns. Lidl, Tesco and Home Bargains have all pulled items from stores in recent weeks, reports Liverpool Echo.
Customers are being urged to return the products to the store uneaten, and instead to return them to the store for a full refund. The Food Standards Agency are called into action when a product is recalled, as they share details on what you should do if you have bought the affected item.
Both the FSA and Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) issues recalls for a variety of reasons, including when a food product contains allergens that are not disclosed or the item is defective. You also don't need a receipt to return the affected item.
Here is a list of some recent items being withdrawn from supermarkets and the reasons why:
Home Bargains
Home Bargains is recalling the Sci-Mx Nutrition Ultra Muscle Strawberry Flavour, due to high levels of caffeine being found in the product.
This makes the product unsafe to consume. The risk statement reads: "Too much caffeine can produce anxiety, sleeplessness, agitation, palpitations, diarrhoea and restlessness.
"Individuals with a mental health condition caffeine can experience worsened psychosis and result in the need for higher amounts of medication. Caffeine can reduce how well your antipsychotic medications work.
"Children, or other people sensitive to caffeine, should only consume caffeine in moderation. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are advised not to have more than 200mg of caffeine over the course of a day."

Lidl
Lidl GB is recalling Snaktastic Chilli Heatwave Tortilla Chips because they may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. Due to a mis-pack, the pack may contain Tangy Cheese flavour Tortilla Chips, meaning it is not suitable for those not consuming milk.
The product could be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
The risk statement reads: "This product may contain milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."

And finally, Tesco is recalling their own-branded Free From Onion Rings, Tesco Free From Cheese Flavour Balls, and Tesco Free From Bacon Rashers because they contain gluten which is not mentioned on the label.
This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten.
The risk statement reads: "This product contains gluten making it a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten."
