Terry Godwin looks set for a return after missing 2021 on IR

When 2020 ended, it was looking like Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Terry Godwin could be a good developmental player for the team. Unfortunately, an undisclosed injury last June derailed those plans. Godwin ended up on the injured reserve with an injury that placed him in a foot cast, and didn’t return for the whole 2021 season.

However, it now appears he’s set to return to the field. Godwin posted a video of himself working out with some friends on an indoor field. He specifically was working on explosion and footwork drills alongside other drills.

The video had the following caption alongside it:

It’s been a min since I’ve been back to ME! Dealing with a injury like this has changed me physically and mentally. But just know God gave the HARDEST battles to his STRONGEST soldiers🙏🏾. Just know it’s about to be a WHOLE LOT of SCARY💩, this time around!! #SCARYTERRY

This comes after the Jags extended Godwin on March 15. And while he will come into the offseason workout program with a limited body of work, he’s a player who could push for a WR5-WR6 spot alongside Laquon Treadwell.

Godwin was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019 out of Georgia in the seventh round (pick No. 237). He was waived that season during final roster cuts, which resulted in him being picked up by the Jags and joining their practice squad that September.

Godwin didn’t end up seeing the field for the Jags until 2020. He played in three games for the team and was able to suit up against the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Indianapolis Colts (Week 16). He was only able to accumulate three catches for 32 yards, though he was targeted six times.

The upcoming preseason will be huge for Godwin as he looks to return to the active roster or earn a practice squad spot. To do so, he’ll have to impress a new coaching staff as the last two coaches he played for were fired, and the team now has Doug Pederson leading the way.
