Terrell Owens is facing a federal defamation lawsuit over a social media post demanding the arrest of three friends of Nolan Wells, published five days after authorities announced that a grand jury had found no evidence of criminal conduct in the teenager's death.

The friends' fathers filed the lawsuit on their behalf on 5 October. The case centres on Owens' response to an Instagram video alleging that the three were involved in Wells' death and had tampered with his phone. Owens shared the video on X with a demand for immediate arrests.
