Teenager suffered serious leg injuries during three-vehicle collision in Lanarkshire

A teenager suffered serious leg injuries during a collision between three vehicles in Lanarkshire.

Road policing officers are now appealing for information following the crash, which took place on the A73 Stirling Road in Airdrie at around 5pm on June 1, at the crossroad junction with Brackenhirst Road and Mill Road.

It involved a red Peugeot 108, a white Ford Transit, and a blue Nissan Navara.

A 19-year-old woman, the driver of the Peugeot, sustained serious leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.

The road was closed for around an hour-and-a-half while investigations were carried out.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder told Lanarkshire Live : “Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time that may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

“If you have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation, or saw what happened, then please get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 2559 of Wednesday, June 1."
