Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein has reportedly split from his girlfriend Beth Rylance - weeks after landing a surprise role in a top Hollywood film.
The 42-year-old actor made headlines last year when he referenced 31-year-old girlfriend Beth during an acceptance speech at an awards show.
However, reports have now suggested that the pair have decided to go their separate ways – and, tellingly, have unfollowed each other on socials.
While it was never too clear exactly when the couple first got together, it is said the romance is now well and truly over - as work commitments have gotten in the way.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “They’re both in exciting times in their careers and really busy and they just couldn’t make it work.”
There had been some speculation that Brett and Beth had split up as far back as April this year.
Brett had made reference to his relationship during his acceptance speech when collecting the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Emmy's in September last year for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso.
And Beth responded in kind, jokingly tweeting: "Today is the day that my boyfriend goes to the Emmy’s as a Best Supporting Actor nominee and I am at home on my second load of laundry”.
News of the split being confirmed comes just weeks after Brett made a surprise appearance in a post-credit scene of Thor: Love and Thunder – announcing his arrival in Marvel films as the mythical character, Hercules.
The actor looks set to now be catapulted into the uppermost Hollywood spotlight as he will be featured in films which tend to make billions of dollars at the box office.
Brett was shown at the end of the film wearing a revealing outfit that showed off his muscles – which he hinted is now working on expanding.
In an interview in The Playlist, Brett explained that he had he was given just a few days’ notice about his role in the recent blockbuster smash.
He explained that his call to join Marvel came: “literally out of the blue one night.
“They turn around, and they reveal, ‘It’s Hercules; it’s you.’ And I went, ‘What?’ Just like, ‘Are you serious? Are you f**king with me? Is this a wind-up?’”
He continued: “Yeah, when I spoke to [director Taika Waititi], I said, ‘You know I’m basically like a skinny comedian?’
“I said, ‘When is this filming?’ It was like in two weeks, and I was like, ‘I mean, I’ll do my best, but two weeks feels...’ I said, ‘He doesn’t have to be as big as Thor, does he?’ And look, on the day, I mean, I’m doing 400 pushups that day. I was fit to explode. I did the best I could on that day, yeah.”
