Take-Two CEO Says He's 'Deeply Disappointed' That a New 'BioShock' Game Is Taking Too Long

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed how "deeply disappointed" he is over the delays that the next "BioShock" game is experiencing.

The game, currently being referred to as "BioShock 4," seems like it's nowhere near being ready for release.

Take-Two CEO Says He's 'Deeply Disappointed'

According to PC Gamer, Zelnick shared his thoughts during an interview with Stephen Totilo's "Game File" and said that he wasn't exactly surprised that no new "BioShock" game has been released.

"Think about what 'surprise' implies. That's like, one day, everything's awesome, and the next day, I'm like, 'Holy s***.' And I don't run the business that way," Zelnick said. "But I think if you're saying 'disappointed,' yes. Deeply disappointed."

Zelnick elaborated on what went wrong, saying, "I think we, in retrospect, wasted a lot of time and money chasing down some creative alleys that turned out to be dead ends."

The good news is, he made sure to point out that he's "feeling a lot better" about the current state of the project.

IGN notes in its report that Zelnick assured fans last year that a new "BioShock" game will come out.

'BioShock' Video Game Series

The video game series began in 2007 with the release of the first "BioShock" game to highly positive reviews. The game ended up becoming multi-awarded and is now considered one of the greatest video games of all time.

A sequel came out three years later with "BioShock 2," which was followed by a third game, "BioShock Infinite" in 2013. This means that fans have been waiting for more than a decade for the next mainline entry to be released.

IGN notes that "BioShock 4" has been in the works since 2019, so fans can only hope that the very long wait may soon come to an end.
