Swansea City headlines as thousands sign petition for owners to leave and Michu reveals Haaland transfer talks

Your Swansea City headlines for Wednesday, February 16.

Petition calling for owners to leave

A petition calling for Swansea's owners to leave the club has resurfaced and topped nearly 2,500 signatures.

It comes on the back of news that the Supporters' Trust has agreed a settlement with the club's former and current shareholders to bring an end to their legal battle.

You can read more about that and the fans' discontent here.

As a result of Tuesday's news, a petition - which has just shy of 2,500 signatures - calling for Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan to resign resurfaced on social media.

A segment of the petition, created by Harrison Evans, reads: "The running of the club over the last five years has been unacceptable and we cannot tolerate it anymore.

"The lack of ambition and investment has been evident for some time now and no real changes seem to be happening any time soon."

Blades concerns over duo

Sheffield United are expected to be without David McGoldrick and Jayden Bogle for Saturday's clash with Swansea City.

Right-back Bogle missed his side's 0-0 draw with Hull City due to a knee concern and will be carefully managed over the course of the remainder of the campaign.

The Blades will also be without striker McGoldrick after he suffered a hamstring injury in his side's 2-0 win over West Brom earlier this month.

On Bogle, Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom said: "He's got a knee problem which we're going to have to manage.

"He couldn't play today. He had a scan yesterday. we'll get a plan together for him because he's been doing fantastic for us. We know he's one of the players we're going to have to manage between now and the end of the season

"I want to be positive with getting him back but we'll be led by opinions and the pain that he's in."

And when asked about about Republic of Ireland international McGoldrick, Heckingbottom said: "He's old and wise enough to know his body.

"He's not someone we know we're going to be able to use in the near future so it's just important that we get his rehab right."

Michu offers Haaland transfer advice

Swansea City icon Michu has urged Erling Haaland to join Barcelona in the summer if Kylian Mbappe moves to Real Madrid.

Haaland has long been admirer of the Spanish striker - who was nothing short of a Premier League revelation after joining the Swans from Rayo Vallecano in 2012.

And the former Swan has revealed Borussia Dortmund ace Haaland is a fan of Spanish football.

It comes amid the news that Haaland will have a £67m release clause on his head later this year, with clubs worldwide likely to be keen on opening talks with the Norwegian attacker.

"I was with Haaland and I had a conversation with him. I don't think he's going to continue at Dortmund," Michu told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

"Haaland is looking for a very strong team that can compete in the Champions League. He's looking for a competitive team.

"He gave me the feeling that he's looking for a long-term sporting project and he told me he likes Spain.

"He's thinking more about a sporting project than from an economic perspective.

"If Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, I think Barcelona would be a very good option. And in these times, Haaland is cheap."

Sheff Utd ref confirmed

David Webb will take charge of Swansea's clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The County Durham official has overseen mixed Swans results in his three outings with the whistle for the club this term.

He took charge of the defeat at Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the season while he was the man in the middle for the win at Barnsley and the away draw with Huddersfield Town.

Webb will be assisted by Adam Crysell and Geoffrey Liddle. Jeremy Simpson will be the fourth official.

Kick-off in South Yorkshire is at 3pm on Saturday.
