Suspect Identified In New Orleans New Year's Eve Tragedy

An incident occurred on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the early hours of New Year's Day, where a suspect identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, allegedly drove his pickup truck into a crowd of revelers. The situation escalated when Jabbar crashed his vehicle and proceeded to open fire on police officers, leading to his fatal shooting by law enforcement.

Upon investigating the crime scene, authorities recovered a Glock handgun and a .308 caliber rifle equipped with optics and a sensor. These findings were disclosed by a reliable source with knowledge of the investigation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case.
