Susanna Reid leapt in to defend her ITV Good Morning Britain co-presenter Ed Balls when he came under fire on Twitter. The show was running a trailer when journalist Dave Lee took to the social media platform to ask: “Sorry why is Ed Balls presenting breakfast TV now?”
Susanna has had a wide range of co-hosts since ex host Piers Morgan left and there has been speculation as to how much she has liked some of them. With Piers she often had on-air run ins with him as she regularly disputed his outspoken remarks and often has a raised eyebrow when working with Richard Madeley - who is famed for his Alan Partridge-style gaffes.
However she genuinely seems to like the former Labour Chancellor Ed, and in response to Dave Lee's question, immediately replied: “Because he’s really good.” This sentiment was echoed by fans on twitter.

Julie tweeted: “I love it when you are on together". Kate Bevan added: “He’s been doing it for ages! And he’s good at it, too." Sally Rawlings made the point: “Sorry are people not allowed to do different jobs these days?”
It comes as Susanna is off presenting duties today on Good Morning Britain as she is preparing to travel to Kyiv for a live report on Monday. Next week, Susanna Reid will be live from Kyiv for the anniversary week, one year on from the start of the Ukraine war.
She tweeted: “Next week marks one devastating year since Russia invaded Ukraine. I’ll be in Kyiv Monday morning @gmb reporting on the cost of war for the Ukrainian people. The effect on the families & children who stayed - and on those left behind when their loved ones fled to the UK.”
One person immediately wondered why she was going. Trevt1972 said: “Why cant you report on it in the studio?” Susanna replied: “Hard to reach all the people we want to talk to on zoom x.”
Scott made a dig: “In your worked on patronising tone?” But Susanna cut him short: “You don’t have to watch Scott.”
Others wished her a safe journey. Davina Morris said: “Stay safe Susanna. x “ ColinMUFC added: “Stay safe.”
