On Saturday, a major Israeli military operation in central Gaza resulted in the deadliest day for the enclave in six months, according to the Gaza health ministry. The operation was carried out to rescue four hostages and involved heavy shelling and artillery fire on the Nuseirat refugee camp and surrounding areas.
Survivors risked their lives to help transport wounded individuals to hospitals, as aid organizations were unable to enter the area due to the ongoing attacks. Despite sustaining injuries themselves, individuals like one man with bloodstained hands and a makeshift sling on his arm, assisted in bringing injured people to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and devastating, with many children and women among the casualties. Video footage from the hospital showed people carrying wounded children covered in blood, while the emergency room was filled with injured individuals. The emotional toll was evident as loved ones said their goodbyes at the morgue.
Nidal Abdo, who was present during the bombardment, described the situation as 'hell on earth,' emphasizing the destruction caused by the attacks. Another local resident, Abu Abdallah, recounted the strikes occurring while people were asleep, leading to tragic consequences.
Despite the danger, brave individuals risked their lives to rescue those in need, pulling out six martyrs, including children and women, from the rubble and transporting them to the hospital for medical attention.
