'Supermarkets have won': Glasgow shop 'forced' to close after more than 30 years

A GLASGOW business has been "forced" to close after serving locals for more than three decades.

J&J Off Sales will shut its doors for good on Saturday, December 14 after 31 years in the city centre.

John and Jean, owners of the High Street off-licence, announced the news by putting up a notice in the shop window recently.

It states that the reason for the closure is partly due to "rising costs and a downturn in business".

The notice reads: "Due to rising costs and a downturn in business we have no alternative than to close after 31 years of trading.

"We would like to thank all our customers past and present for their support. We will stop trading on December 14.

"The supermarkets have won."
