Police investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman who suffered gunshot wounds to the head on the Sunshine Coast have arrested a man in Sippy Downs.
The 30-year-old Narangba man was arrested about 3.30pm after his vehicle was stopped on Fitzwilliam Street at Sippy Downs.
Police said in a statement he was taken into custody without incident and was assisting with investigations.
Police said the woman was shot during a disturbance at a Coolum Street home in Dicky Beach about 9am Friday.
She was taken to Caloundra Base Hospital by a 58-year-old man known to her, but later died.
The 58-year-old man is voluntarily assisting police with enquiries.
Police said the woman and the Narangba man knew each other but said the incident was not domestic-related.
"Both were visiting the Coolum Street address and friends of the home owner, a woman, who has now spoken to investigators," the statement reads.
A crime scene remains in place at the Coolum Street home.
Police are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the incident to contact them.
Earlier, Detective Inspector David Drinnen said, while the woman had sustained gunshot wounds to the head, the cause of death would not be known until an autopsy had been carried out.
"Our investigators are speaking to a number of people out within the neighbouring area to see if they can provide any assistance," he said.
