Sunderland's Festival of Light in Roker is off to a dazzling start following an exciting opening night.

Families from across the region flocked to the first evening of the Festival of Light in Roker Park and the ever-popular Sunderland Illuminations along the seafront.

Sunderland City Council Cabinet Member for Vibrant City, Councillor Linda Williams, said: “It has been fantastic to see the much-loved Sunderland Illuminations and Festival of Light back off to a fantastic start. There are some beautiful new displays throughout the park as well as funfair rides and entertainment for families to enjoy
